Since the first Russian aggression against Ukraine in 2014, our nation has faced not only war and occupation, but also many attempts to divide our people. At that time God gave David a powerful vision for the National Prayer for Ukraine – a vision that prayer could unite the churches, strengthen the unity of our nation and help establish real peace on Ukrainian land.
The first National Prayer was held in the centre of Kyiv in 2016, when thousands of people came together to cry out to God for Ukraine. Despite the continuing war and all the challenges and dangers, David has personally supported and attended these annual events, joining the Heads of Christian Confessions in prayer for our country.
The impact has been much greater than simply organising a large Christian event. Over the years we have seen churches and denominations come together in a way that is very special for Ukraine. When the full-scale invasion began on 24 February 2022, the enemy expected to find a weak and divided nation. Instead, Ukraine stood united. For us, the unity of our people in prayer has become one of the secret weapons God has given us during this war.
The National Prayer for Ukraine continues every year, bringing together up to 10,000 people. On 4 July 2026, more than 3,000 people gathered in Kyiv, including over 30 Bishops and Leaders representing the Christian confessions of Ukraine, together with hundreds of volunteers, musicians and a live orchestra. It was a blessed atmosphere as together we placed our hope in God's Hands, remembering the promise of 2 Chronicles 7:14 – when God's people humble themselves, pray and seek His face, He will hear from heaven and heal (bring peace) their land.
We are committed to continuing the National Days of Prayer every year, believing that prayer and spiritual unity remain vital for the future of Ukraine.
One of the most moving examples came in 2023, when thousands gathered for prayer in Bucha after its liberation and the terrible suffering experienced there. It was a powerful testimony that even after destruction and tragedy, faith remains alive.
We believe prayer can bring peace, heal the wounds of war and help Ukraine build a spiritually strong future with God.
