Mission of Mercy Since 2014
When Russia first invaded Crimea and the Donetsk region in 2014, the lives of thousands of Ukrainians changed almost overnight. Communities were divided, families were displaced and people suddenly found themselves living with the reality of war.
From the very beginning, our team of Christian volunteers understood that in such circumstances the Word of God had a special importance. At a time of fear, uncertainty and attempts to distort the truth, people needed something that would not change – the eternal truth and values on which they could build their lives and their future.
Together with Hryhoriy Comendant, President of the Ukrainian Bible Society, we travelled many times to the East of Ukraine, bringing practical and spiritual support to both military personnel and civilians. We distributed Bibles, prayed with people and gave them the opportunity to discover the hope and truth found in God's Word.
As the conflict continued, the needs continued to grow.
Spiritual support remained at the heart of our ministry, but war was also damaging homes and changing every aspect of daily life. People needed very practical things – ways to charge their phones, boil water, heat their homes, keep warm and care for injuries. Our teams brought essential supplies and whatever practical assistance could help make life a little more bearable.
Behind all of this was one simple desire – to relieve suffering and bring hope.
Over the years, these journeys became a normal part of life for our team. We could no longer imagine our ministry without standing alongside our brothers and sisters, whether they were wearing military uniform or civilian clothes. For people living in such circumstances, it is extremely important to know that they have not been abandoned, that they are not alone and, above all, that God has not forgotten them.
We are deeply grateful to the Lord for protecting our teams throughout so many years of ministry in areas affected by the fighting.
Serving Displaced Families and Children
Our Mission of Mercy has never been limited to the frontline.
As the war displaced more and more families, we developed projects to support those who found temporary refuge in western Ukraine. Many had left behind their homes, their work and almost everything familiar to them. Practical support with food and essential items is important, but equally important is sharing warmth, friendship and prayer, and simply letting people know that somebody cares.
A particularly important part of our work is supporting children whose lives have been deeply affected by war.
We organise special projects for children both on the East and in Kyiv. Some have lost parents or other family members. Many have experienced things no child should have to experience.
There is something unforgettable about seeing eyes that have become far too serious for their age begin to show happiness again.
We give children backpacks, practical items, school accessories, Christmas and Easter gifts and other things that can bring some simple childhood joy into an extremely difficult reality. But behind every gift is a greater message – that they are loved, that they have not been forgotten and that the love of their Heavenly Father remains with them.
The Mission Continues
What began in 2014 has now become more than a decade of continuous ministry.
We call it our Mission of Mercy – a ministry of serving, supporting and helping to heal the wounds and trauma of war.
The scale of the need has changed dramatically since the full-scale invasion, but the heart of the mission remains the same. We continue to stand alongside military personnel, civilians, displaced families, churches and children. We continue bringing practical help and the Word of God. And we understand that even when the war ends, healing its wounds will require many years of love, faith and service.
Today, in 2026, our Mission of Mercy continues through the unity of our teams, the courage of our volunteers, the faithful support of our friends and partners and, above all, through God's guidance and grace.
