Dear Friends and Supporters
As I write this, I’m about to leave for 2 weeks in Ukraine! But I have only just returned from 2 weeks in Kazakhstan, possibly the most powerful of my life – it was an explosion of Power and Fire. This is the beginning of a powerful miracle which I have waited for all my life. From my earliest years of evangelism, I have believed that Joel’s prophecy in Chapters 2-3, greater than Acts 2, is to be fulfilled immediately before Christ’s Return! Now it’s happening!
Back in the 1990s and early 2000s, Kazakhstan experienced a great revival – I was part of it, brain tumours healed, the sick raised from their death beds. But then came a great persecution. In Almaty and Karaganda, church buildings, even their own homes, were confiscated, they were taken to court on false charges, the leading pastors forced to flee to the West. After 20 years’ prayer, properties were returned, ‘freedom’ restored. We are able to work again, and I have official permits from the government to speak.
In Almaty we filled the 1500 seat church for up to two meetings each day! They said my preaching has become so powerful, it spiritually ‘breaks up the ground’ as never before. Pastor Ivan was weeping, he couldn’t stand. But the answer of the KGB on the Sunday was to cut the power when I was preaching, but only partially, as the police station next door is on the same network! I continued speaking and the whole place came alive with the Power of God. As I approached the end of my message, KGB trucks with mobile phone jammers arrived to close down the massive traffic of photos, videos and reports coming out of the building – popular bloggers inside spreading the Gospel on their social media platforms to 100s of 1000s of their followers! KGB agents demanded the pastor show David's permit to speak, but he told them if they really wanted to see it, go to the government department that issued the permit! Such was the Power of God that many hundreds accepted Christ and were instantly and miraculously healed!
This was only the beginning! Because I then moved to the next city, Karaganda. Here we were in an enormous building bought by the church as an unfinished Olympic Swimming Stadium seating 5,000 and converted for the Gospel! Before we started, a representative of the minister of Religious Affairs (old Soviet control system) spent time talking with me. As the Folk Symphony Orchestra were about to open the meeting, all power lines to the building were cut. It’s a huge building, what would we do?
Singing filled the arena, the simple Alleluia song, no amplification, just the sound of everyone joining in! Then the Orchestra played its pieces, in the dark, without being able to see their music. Still in the dark, a lamp switched on and a microphone was rigged up for me. Someone had brought a portable generator – because God told him to! So, the enemy's plan to stop our meeting failed! In the dark where they stood, hundreds accepted Christ and were healed. On the second night the same thing, they cut the power, but we were better prepared and when I called for repentance, we had just enough light and over 500 came down from the balconies, desperate for Jesus. Many more were miraculously healed!
Sunday morning, I preached in one of the supporting churches to a packed crowd on Joel’s prophecy of the last revival before Jesus comes back. The pastor was in tears, “I have waited 20 years to hear this message!” Then back into the massive hall for the final meeting. Again – out went the lights. But now we were on top – the organisers had located and brought in a generator powering the graphics and TV screens, flooding the building with light!
The Holy Spirit came down so powerfully in a way I have not seen in 75 years! Preaching on finding Jesus, the Holy Spirit led me to do the opposite of what I have always done – I prayed for the sick first – God answered in such Power, a flood of people mounted the platform to testify of the incredible miracles they were experiencing. Then it was so easy to say, “You have seen the Power of Jesus to heal. This same Jesus is here to forgive your sin.” Many hundreds accepted Christ and prayed the sinners’ prayer!
As the many supporting pastors took over, they ran out of Bibles, and they said, the anointing that was on me, came on them and everyone they prayed for was healed! As I sat in the pastors’ room at the end, exhausted and blessed that the Fire of the Holy Spirit is more powerful in my life now than before, the same minister of religious affairs came back to see me. He said, “Please come back. We will need fewer doctors!” As a cultural Moslem, it mattered to him to see what our Jesus can actually do! As I met the supporting pastors the next day, all testified that they had waited 20 years to see such Power from God and revival has begun again in Kazakhstan. Pastors we work with in Georgia and Uzbekistan were there and saw it!
Aged 94 the Lord is fulfilling His promise to me – in my coming days I will see more Fire, more Power from the Holy Spirit than in the beginning. In these two weeks I have seen more evidence of the Holy Spirit than ever before in my life! And it is clear; I am operating under a Divine Authority greater than that of the opposition!
But the same demonic power which tried to stop me in Kazakhstan is holding back the finance we so desperately need. We are out of money and humanly cannot finance the rest of the programme for this year. Within days we need another £200,000 to fulfil all God wants us to do in Caucasus and Central Asia now that the door is open – briefly I believe – and the Fire is falling! This is a massive move of God amongst Moslem peoples who have never seen miracles and healings in their religion.
