Our hope is in Christ! Supporting Ukraine

For over 70 years, David Hathaway, has poured all his efforts into the people of Ukraine, Russia, and all the countries of the former Soviet Union. In the 1950s, his first evangelistic meetings, were supported by Russian and Polish refugees, in the displacement camps, after World War II.

Why has he worked so tirelessly in these nations? Why smuggle Bibles, into Communist Europe? Because without Christ, they have no hope. It was with those words, that David launched his appeal to evangelise Siberia, and the Far East of Russia, in 1994, shortly after the collapse of communism. They were in crisis. But people in the West thought, now they have freedom, access to the world’s financial markets, and all the ‘glories’ of the West. – As if that, was all the ‘hope’ people needed.

David saw, we had only a window of time, in which to act. As we prayed, and faithfully evangelised, from the Russian Far East to the Western borders, he believed, God would incrementally extend the time, in which we could work. And He did! – With an incredible demonstration of His Power in Russia, Ukraine, and in all those East European, former communist countries.

In the early years, following the collapse of communism, David personally held, over three hundred evangelistic missions, in the former Soviet countries, with hundreds of thousands of people saved.

In 2002, David began to hold TV evangelism. In West Ukraine, the television company, estimated, that 90%, of the one and a half million population, watched the broadcast. So many people, called the TV Station afterwards, wanting to see the programmes all over again, that the TV Director, re-broadcast the programme five times!

To fulfil this vision, has been all-out spiritual warfare. Spiritual warfare is not just praying, and we do thank God for those who pray! – but it’s going out there, facing the devil, head-on, and rescuing souls.

For David, his greatest joy, has been evangelising, and supporting Ukraine. In February 2014, the world watched aghast, but silent, as Russia seized Crimea, in a campaign that lasted only days. And then sent its special forces, into East Ukraine, where they have been ever since.

In response to this, in 2015, David called the leaders of all the Churches in Ukraine, to unite, to call on God, to protect the sovereignty, of their nation. Few believed, we could bring, all the denominations together. But by a miracle, we did, holding the first National Day of Prayer for Ukraine, in 2016. This has grown and continued every year since. Now Ukraine needs more prayer than ever! Will you intercede for them?

In the Old Testament, the King of Israel, cried out: You alone, are the God who is in heaven. You are ruler, of all the kingdoms of the earth. You are powerful, and mighty. No one can stand against you! Our God, will you not stop them? For we have no power to face this vast army, that is attacking us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are upon you.’

Despite the war in Ukraine, the churches are still active. Ministering to hurting people. Distributing Bibles. Administering humanitarian aid. The war has caused so much damage to infrastructure, but an even greater damage to people's souls. Families are separated. Women and children are fleeing to neighbouring nations. Many are trapped in cities, bombarded by bombs, and hiding in underground shelters. Will you help them?

God will answer Ukraine! Their desperate cries are heard by Him! And you and I, can join them as they pray for their nation, and people. Help us support them.

All our work in these countries, has been done together, with you, and with your support. Thank you, on behalf of all those people, who were born into a world of darkness, but have been reborn into the Kingdom of Light, through the preaching of the Good News, of Jesus Christ.
