Emphasise the positive

God has given us so many promises, it is not presumptuous to accept them by faith, then go and take them. Too many sit and wait, asking, and never receiving. I remember as a boy the time when I wanted to be filled with the Holy Spirit. The old believers said, ‘Wait, we must have waiting meetings.’ But I am impatient and soon became tired of waiting. I said, ‘Easter is coming, I will go to London to one of the big conventions and not return until I receive.’ With that positive attitude I went – and received.

We must not accept the negative but emphasise the positive!

It is so easy to know what is in the Bible, but then dismiss it. We read it, study it, preach it, ‘spiritualise’ it, until there is a danger that we make it mean something else. But everything in the Bible can happen today! Don’t limit God. I want to challenge you to a new kind of faith. We are commanded to go in and possess all the blessings which God has promised.

The Power of Active Faith: How to Receive God’s Promises

Many believers struggle with the gap between knowing biblical promises and possessing them. To move from passive waiting to active receiving, one must shift from a "waiting" mindset to a "taking" mindset.

The Difference Between Waiting and Receiving

In many spiritual circles, there is a tradition of "waiting meetings." While patience is a virtue, it can often become a cloak for passivity.

Passive Faith: Waiting indefinitely for a sign or feeling before acting.

Active Faith: Recognising that God has already given the promise and moving to claim it.

Everything in the Bible can happen today. Do not limit God by 'spiritualising' His word until it loses its practical power.

3 Steps to Possess Biblical Blessings

To optimise your spiritual walk and experience the fulfillment of scripture, consider these three principles:

Adopt a Positive Attitude: Replace negative "what-ifs" with the certainty of God's Word. Decide, as the author did when seeking the Holy Spirit, that you will not return until you receive.

Avoid Over-Spiritualising: It is a danger to study and preach the Bible while dismissing its literal application for today. Treat the commands of the Bible as current opportunities, not historical artifacts.

Take Decisive Action: Faith is not just a mental agreement; it is a physical movement. We are commanded to go in and possess the land and the blessings promised to us.
