Expect God to pour out His Spirit

As I celebrate 75 years in ministry, my job is not yet done, I’m still asking what will it be next time, what will happen this year? I still don’t have enough Power, I’m still not satisfied that God has answered me fully. How much longer must I live to get all the answers? I know that these answers will only come as I continue seeing God in action – that’s why I cannot stop, must not stop, He has so much more to reveal. All I know is that it is step by step by step, and I have not reached the end of the road yet; tomorrow will be more exciting than today.

I am determined, TODAY God will pour out His Holy Spirit on ALL flesh, and ALL who call on the Name of the Lord will be delivered. He has promised, He HAS to do it… This is why I can go to any country where there has been no revival and EXPECT God to fulfil His Promise to pour out His Spirit on whoever, on ALL flesh.

When I was a child, night after night, after my mother had gone up to bed, my father and I would wash up the supper dishes. I would ask him questions, he would give me the answers. We debated the finer points, like ‘once saved, always saved’? And ‘what happens to those who die without ever hearing the Gospel’? To which my father simply replied, “David, that’s YOUR job – to preach the Gospel.”

Having to work in London from 1948 to 1950 to get the money together that I would need to enter Bible College, I was getting desperate. I knew the Lord was coming back soon and here was I, wasting time working in a bank. Time after time my desperate prayer was, “Lord, don’t give my job to somebody else – wait for me – I’m coming.” But at that time, I had no idea what my job would eventually be. All I knew was that I had given EVERYTHING to Jesus and was desperate to evangelise, to win the lost for Christ.

People have often asked me, who will take over from you? But my answer is still the same, “Lord, don’t give my job to somebody else.” Writing this, I’m now just turning 93 – and I’m still praying, “Lord, don’t give my job to somebody else, I’ve not yet finished what You’ve called me to do.” But I never know far into the future, what this job will be, any more than 75 years ago, I could ever have imagined all those things that I have since done in fulfilling the vision God has given me for Europe.
