Jesus is here to help

God answers prayer! At the mention of His Name, Jesus will come to save, heal and deliver. It is never too late: even when all around you seems dead and gone, Jesus will take you by the hand, speak tenderly to you and say, “Little girl, get up.”

Now when Jesus had crossed over again by boat to the other side, a great multitude gathered to Him; and He was by the sea. And behold, one of the rulers of the synagogue came, Jairus by name. And when he saw Him, he fell at His feet and begged Him earnestly, saying, “My little daughter lies at the point of death. Come and lay Your hands on her, that she may be healed, and she will live.” So Jesus went with him, and a great multitude followed Him and thronged Him…

While He was still speaking, some came from the ruler of the synagogue’s house who said, “Your daughter is dead. Why trouble the Teacher any further?” As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, He said to the ruler of the synagogue, “Do not be afraid; only believe.”

He took the father and the mother of the child, and those who were with Him, and entered where the child was lying. Then He took the child by the hand, and said to her, “Talitha, cumi,” which is translated, “Little girl, I say to you, arise.” Immediately the girl arose and walked, for she was twelve years of age. And they were overcome with great amazement. (Mark 5:21-43, NKJV)

Don’t come to Jesus with your preconceived ideas from religion. Forget about religion. That is what Jairus had to do. In his desperation, Jairus, a leader of the synagogue, discarded religion, and embraced the only one who could help, the person of Jesus Christ. Jesus didn’t come to start a religion, but to seek and save the lost: He is the Good Shepherd: He loves you, you are precious to Him.

I will answer them before they even call to me. While they are still talking about their needs, I will go ahead and answer their prayers! (Isaiah 65:24, NLT)

People are hurting; many are suffering with sickness; others have loved ones which they care for: that was the predicament that Jairus was in. His daughter was sick. When he stood in front of Jesus, his position and status was meaningless, the only thing that mattered was the well-being of his daughter. I understand his emotion: I have three daughters whom I love very much, I would do anything for them. The Bible says that when Jairus caught sight of Jesus, he fell at His feet. He was pleading for his daughter’s life: “Jesus, You are the only one; come to my home; lay Your hands on her so that she may live.” This man was no different to you and me: when we have a need, there is only one person who can help, and His Name is Jesus.

I want everybody to hear this truth. Why? Because we all have problems, and only Jesus can solve them. Nobody cares for you like Jesus. Only Jesus can change your life. Only Jesus can heal your sickness. I want you to know that Jesus is real, that He is alive. Without Jesus, this story about Jairus would be so different. Without Jesus, she would die. Without Jesus, there was no hope.

If you don’t realise who Jesus is, then you are no different to the servants at Jairus’ house: you’d say, “It’s too late, don’t bother anymore, she has died.” But it is never too late with Jesus.

Jesus went to the house. He turned the mourners out. “She is not dead, she is only asleep.” Jesus went to her, took her by the hand, and said, “Little girl, arise.” And in that moment, the dead girl got up. She walked. She was alive. What a miracle!

If you will reach out your hand today; if you will reach out to Jesus; if you will touch Him; if you will call upon Him in prayer: whatever your problem, whatever your sickness, whatever your sin: there is forgiveness, there is healing. It is not too late. Jesus is here.

So Jesus went with Jairus… (Mark 5:24, NKJV)

You never need to question whether Jesus cares, if He is interested in your life. Jesus’ willingness to help this father shows forevermore that He can help, that He cares, that He will come. Your need may not be sickness, but whatever it is, Jesus is on His way. Discard the thoughts of, ‘Don’t bother anymore, it is too late’, just heed the voice of Jesus, “Don’t be afraid, only believe.”

Be of good cheer, I have overcome the world (John 16:33, NKJV)

I want you to rejoice! I want your life to be full of joy! We worship a living God! Why do we celebrate the death of Jesus? Firstly, He died for you. He died to forgive your sin. He took your sin and sickness; everything that hinders you, He took it all to the grave. Your pain and sickness is buried forever.

The second reason Jesus died is to prove that there is a resurrection: there is life after death. On the third day, the Son of God arose from the grave. Don’t worship dead gods or idols made by the hands of man, worship the living Saviour! He is alive and working on your behalf!
