Healed of lung cancer, Part 1

I believe in prayer and in a God of miracles.

In December 2002, as part of the process of getting a resident’s permit in Ukraine, in order to prove I did not have TB which is endemic out there, I had to have a lung X-ray. But the doctors called me back, took more X-rays, and then told me I had a shadow on my lung and that I had pneumonia. Probably I had already had it for over a month, because I remember a fever had started on the last day of October while I was evangelising in Siberia.

Back in England I was treated with antibiotics, but after two courses of treatment I went again for X-rays and the patch on my lung was bigger. The doctors became extremely worried, they didn’t want me to travel overseas and they set up exhaustive tests in a hurry. They said bluntly, ‘It’s not pneumonia, you have lung cancer.’

I prayed about it, and I did go overseas to carry out my ministry, but the day after I got back the hospital process started. On the Thursday I had the CT (computer tomography) scan and it showed the cancer.

Faced with a challenge

I believe in prayer and in a God of miracles. But I am faced with a challenge: do I really believe God or not? Isaiah 53:5 says Jesus was wounded for our sin, bruised for our iniquity and with His stripes we are healed.

Healing Miracle Testimony: Overcoming a Lung Cancer Diagnosis Through Prayer

I believe in prayer and in a God of miracles. When faced with a terminal medical diagnosis, my faith was put to the ultimate test. This is the true story of how God answered my prayers during a severe health crisis.

The First Signs: A Misdiagnosed Lung Shadow in Ukraine

In December 2002, I underwent a routine lung X-ray to secure a resident’s permit in Ukraine, a requirement to prove I did not have endemic tuberculosis (TB).

However, the medical team called me back for additional X-rays. The doctors discovered a distinct shadow on my lung and diagnosed me with pneumonia. In retrospect, I had likely been carrying the illness for over a month; I distinctly remember a severe fever starting on the last day of October while I was evangelising in Siberia.

From Pneumonia to a Lung Cancer Diagnosis

Upon returning to England, I was treated with two consecutive courses of antibiotics. Unfortunately, follow-up X-rays revealed that the patch on my lung had actually grown larger.

The doctors became extremely worried and advised against any overseas travel. They fast-tracked a series of exhaustive medical tests and delivered a blunt prognosis:

"It’s not pneumonia. You have lung cancer."

Standing on Faith and Scripture Amid a Medical Crisis

Despite the terrifying lung cancer diagnosis and the doctors' warnings, I chose to pray. I decided to travel overseas to fulfill my ministry commitments, trusting God with the outcome.

The day after I returned to England, the formal hospital process began. On a Thursday, I underwent a CT (computed tomography) scan, which confirmed the presence of the tumor.

Faced with this immense challenge, I had to answer a critical question: Do I really believe God and His Word, or not? I found my strength in the scripture of Isaiah 53:5, which declares that Jesus was wounded for our transgressions, bruised for our iniquities, and by His stripes, we are healed.
