By faith we believe

By faith we believe that Jesus is the Son of God, that He died and rose again for the forgiveness of sin. By faith we believe that we are healed by the Power of His Name. For with the heart we believe unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

By faith we understand that the entire universe was formed at God’s command, that what we now see did not come from anything that can be seen… And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to Him must believe that God exists and that He rewards those who sincerely seek Him’ (Hebrews 11:3,6, NLT)

I believe in the Word of God. I believe in the God of the Bible. 2000 years ago, Jesus was born, died and rose again; and He is still alive today! In the Old Testament, they were looking forward to the appearance of the Messiah; to them, Jesus was somebody the prophets were prophesying about. And yet by faith they believed in what they had not seen. We live 2000 years later, also believing in whom we have not seen. We believe Jesus is coming back. Jesus is coming again! I believe we are living in the End Times, the time immediately before the return of Christ.

What we believe and profess is so important: for what we believe in our hearts, and confess with our mouths, becomes our salvation. (Romans 10:10, NKJV)

The Apostles Creed

I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; He descended to the dead. On the third day He rose again; He ascended into heaven, He is seated at the right hand of the Father, and He will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church (the worldwide Body of Christ), the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

‘Choose you this day whom ye will serve… but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord’, Joshua 24:15, KJV

I want to turn you to 1 Kings 18. This is a very famous story. This is the story of the prophet Elijah. He believed he was the only faithful one left, the only believer in the whole of Israel. The whole nation of Israel had turned away from God. And they were worshipping other gods. The challenge from Elijah is this, in verse 21, ‘How long halt ye between two opinions? if the Lord be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him.’

Elijah challenged all the prophets of Baal: you pray to your god, I’ll pray to my God, and the God who answers by fire is the real God. – What he was really saying is, the God who answers prayer, He is the real God. The problem today is, just being religious, just knowing that there is a God, that is not enough. That is not enough. There has to be something more. The Bible says even the demons know there is a God (James 2:19). We need to not only believe, but serve the Living God.
