My desire is that the world should see the Glory and Power of God. In 1 Chronicles 28, King David commissions his son Solomon to build the Temple by saying, 'It was my desire to build a Temple where the Ark of the Covenant could rest permanently.' This was to be such a resplendent representation of the majesty of our God. Today, we are not building a physical Temple, but the Glory of God can be seen through the works we do for Him. Jesus said in Matthew 5, 'Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.'
'Those who know their God will be strong, and do exploits!' (Daniel 11:32.) The challenge for all of us is, if we know God - I mean really know and understand Him - we will be the strongest people in the world, and will do all the things no one else can do. But how can we know God? Psalm 103:7 reveals, 'He made known His ways unto Moses, His acts unto the children of Israel.' We need to move beyond seeing the acts of God, like the Israelites did in the wilderness, and become like Moses who knew God, and talked to Him 'as a man would a friend'.
We’ve got a challenge. I’m over 90. I’ve had cancer twice, I’ve been in prison for smuggling Bibles. Yet people say to me, ‘Oh, I’m too weak, I can’t do this, I can’t do that.’ But with God, nothing is impossible! Daniel 11:32 says, ‘Those who know their God will be strong and do exploits’ – the most amazing incredible things ever seen on the earth – ‘exploits’! Bigger than anything you can imagine! You should be doing more than anybody else! Church, we’ve got to get on FIRE! If you’ve got no fire, get the Holy Ghost! When God lit the fire in my life aged 13 it does not go out! I keep putting the fuel on the fire – sacrifice, sacrifice. Yes, sacrifice. Sacrifice yourself, your personal dreams and ambitions, everything for Him! We’re going to win a Kingdom! You’re going to lose a dirty old world and gain the Kingdom of God! Which do you want? Do you want this world? Or the Kingdom of Christ? Come on! We have to sacrifice, we have to pay the price. I used to argue with God, “Now that I’m 80 years old, don’t You think You should make my life a bit easier?” He says, “NO!” – It gets harder, but it gets more glorious! To have this privilege – WOW!
The world has to see God’s power! He’s a God of power and authority, a God who enables me to do exploits! Jesus said to His disciples, “You see the miracles I do, but when I go to Heaven, you’re going to do bigger!” (John 14:12.) Are you seeing bigger miracles than Jesus? But that’s what we need! We need a baptism of fire and power! The fire of God, the power of God – that’s the challenge. God has called us to receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit and do exploits! There is a song, ‘God raised me up to stand on mountains, He raised me up to walk on stormy seas’ – God raised YOU up to stand on mountains, He raised YOU up to walk on stormy seas! God raised YOU up to heal the sick, raise the dead, work miracles and preach the Gospel – and He sent the Holy Spirit to do this through YOU! When you’ve got the Holy Ghost, God does everything! – Because it’s the Holy Spirit who gives you the gift of faith to do it! ‘Those that know their God will be strong and do exploits! (Daniel 11:32 KJV.)
We’ve got to be changed. Transformed, by the fire and the power of the Holy Spirit. Then work as if Christ is coming!
